Spotlight on Katy

Katy Panter joined the Lucent team in February 2023, bringing experience providing and coordinating services within client-facing roles.

Katy has delivered professional audit and assurance services at Deloitte, working with a variety of publicly-listed groups. She has led a range of projects within her roles in the healthcare sector, and for an international media partnership.

Here, Katy shares more about her work with Lucent.

What has inspired you to pursue a career with Lucent?

Having volunteered within my local community from a young age, climate and equality issues in particular have had an influence on my career pathway. I have seen at a local level the difference a single person or small group can make in uplifting communities: our choices do matter.

When I discovered Lucent’s work, I was keen to contribute my energy and knowledge to helping the team build on the work achieved so far.

What was your journey to becoming a Relationship Executive?

My career has taken me to many different industries, but one thing that has remained consistent within my roles is a love for connecting the pieces of the puzzle.

During my time within audit, I had the opportunity to contribute to large-scale engagements and learn from diverse teams across the globe. My contribution to projects since has focused on implementing project management practices, implementing software, and building processes. Throughout this, the end focus has always been to add value to client delivery.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your work?

Working with a team who help organisations adapt to rapidly evolving challenges is something I look forward to each day. As someone who has a solutions-first approach within my work, I appreciate how our team’s ideas can translate to meaningful, tangible change within organisations.

Our clients have an impact in areas that touch us all - there are so many communities that benefit from the work of these organisations.

What or who inspires you?

It can oftentimes feel like an uphill battle to keep some of the large environmental and social issues we are facing today on the agenda. A big part of raising awareness and solving issues is to engage with a variety of stakeholders and maintain discussion, the latter of which can feel difficult in the context of our hyperactive news cycles.

Those who aren’t afraid to keep pushing the envelope and remain resilient, even with the background noise, inspire me. There are a few young people in particular who do exactly this, and have contributed to changing the way younger generations engage with the media.

If you could travel to any fictional place, where would you choose?

Growing up, I spent most days reading and Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings were my favourite books. The Shire always seemed to me a place of natural beauty and home to an energetic community. The Shire is also a place from which many adventures could begin.
