Experiences of working with the Labour government
Over the summer we interviewed nine leaders from across the social change sector, curious to hear more about their specific experiences of working with the Labour government in its first 12 months – the good, the bad and the ugly.
Some important themes emerged from these interviews:
The profound and positive change in tone and increased access and engagement;
Some pockets of success with positive policy change being developed often out of the spotlight on issues of regulation or where there is cross-party consensus;
The challenge of working with a government that lacks an overarching vision and where missions are being quietly forgotten;
The frustration of contradictions and incoherence in government action or where there was regressive, damaging rhetoric.
We are pleased to share our report capturing the fascinating and candid insights shared - including reflections on policy, shifting public narratives and canny approaches to influencing a government that is in a tight spot politically and economically.
